Index Data Applauds Linköping University Library’s Successful FOLIO Implementation

COPENHAGEN – Index Data is delighted that Linköping University Library in Sweden has gone live with FOLIO. Linköping University (LiU) has been part of the FOLIO Community for a number of years and has worked on its migration for months, culminating in a go-live on July 24, 2023. Staff at Linköping University Library began the process by analyzing FOLIO’s functionality and workflows. This included mapping local library workflows to the features offered by FOLIO apps, enabling efficient resource management and improved user experiences, and mapping existing data to the data structure in FOLIO. Crucial was an outstanding collaboration with the University’s IT department.

In the implementation phase, Linköping University Library contacted Index Data to provide support and expertise in a number of areas, including advice and best practices regarding technical infrastructure troubleshooting and upgrades.

David Lawrence, Library Director at Linköping University, and Eva Sejmyr, project manager for the FOLIO Implementation, highlighted the support they received: “Index Data’s expertise was very useful in helping us through the process of setting up the FOLIO installation and throughout the migration project.”

FOLIO has emerged as a game-changer in the library landscape, revolutionizing how institutions manage their resources. As a consultant to Linköping University Library, Index Data had the role of a helping hand to turn to in the process of becoming a self-hosted FOLIO institution.

“Partnering with libraries so that they may be successful is at the heart of Index Data’s mission. Our consultancy services are designed to provide institutions with whatever expertise they need when they need it,” said Mike Gorrell, Managing Director at Index Data. “The fact that we were able to assist the very capable staff at LiU during their migration underscores our commitment to provide varied services and share our expertise in FOLIO.”

The successful FOLIO implementation at Linköping University Library serves as a testament to the fact that it is possible for libraries to run FOLIO locally.
