March 1, 2010 - West Hartford, CT – The Capital District Library Council (CDLC), a regional multi-type library organization with 68 libraries and library system members, headquartered in Albany, New York, has contracted with Index Data to provide them with a virtual union catalog.
CDLC will be replacing the union catalog component of the URSA platform with components of Index Data’s MasterKey™ information discovery platform to provide its members with a cost-effective, state-of-the-art discovery tool. The initial service will offer one-stop search access to the holdings of member libraries, incorporating such functionality as faceted searching and a simple click through to access each catalog. However, looking further, the full potential of Index Data’s platform is potentially available to CDLC.
“We welcomed the opportunity to work with Index Data to develop a powerful and fast yet easy-to-use virtual catalog for our member libraries and their patrons,” said Jean Sheviak, CDLC’s Executive Director. “The Index Data staff were very responsive and moved quickly to help us implement the new CaDiLaC Online 2.0 ”.
“Our goal is to use state-of-the-art technology and open systems to support information discovery,” added Lynn Bailey, Index Data’s CEO. “We are pleased that CDLC has joined a growing number of library consortia that have selected our services to meet the needs of today’s Internet-savvy users”.
