Middle Tennessee State University migrates FOLIO Services Contract to Index Data

,

Boston, MA – Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has selected Index Data to provide comprehensive hosting and support services for its FOLIO library services platform, VuFind discovery interface, and Library Data Platform (LDP/Metadb). The university will transition to Index Data’s services beginning July 1, 2026.

MTSU, one of Tennessee’s leading public universities, currently uses FOLIO and Metadb services from EBSCO and self-hosts its VuFind discovery layer. The move to Index Data will consolidate all three platforms under a single service provider, combining proven hosting expertise with the personalized, partnership-focused approach that defines Index Data’s work with libraries.

“We’re thrilled that Middle Tennessee State University has chosen Index Data as their partner for FOLIO, VuFind, and LDP services,” said Mike Gorrell, Managing Director of Index Data. “Since 2020, we’ve been hosting these platforms for libraries of all sizes and complexities, and we’ve learned what it takes to deliver reliable, high-performance service. But what truly sets us apart is our commitment to being partners, not vendors. Every library works with an account lead who is a librarian and knows the details of their operation.”

The comprehensive service package includes:

  • FOLIO hosting and support: Expert management of the complete FOLIO library services platform on Index Data’s proven AWS-based infrastructure
  • VuFind discovery services: Hosting and support for MTSU’s patron-facing discovery interface
  • Library Data Platform (Metadb): Analytics and reporting infrastructure delivered by the creators of the platform

Index Data’s partnership approach means MTSU will work directly with experienced library technology professionals who combine deep technical expertise with an understanding of academic library operations. With five years of hosting experience across dozens of implementations, Index Data has developed best practices and infrastructure that ensure reliability while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to each library’s unique requirements. Rather than navigating corporate service tiers, MTSU will have direct relationships with the Index Data team who actively support and contribute to the FOLIO, VuFind, and LDP communities.

“Consolidating our library technology services with Index Data makes strategic sense for MTSU. Having all of our LSP services hosted and supported with the same provider is essential to our continued efforts to provide our users with the best library catalog experience possible.” said Mary Ann Jones, Associate Professor and Chair, Collection Development and Management, James E. Walker Library. “Their proven track record hosting these platforms combined with their personalized, partnership-focused approach gives us confidence that we’re working with a provider who will adapt to our needs as our library continues to grow and keep pace with ever-changing technology. We’re gaining a true partner who is invested in our success.”

This agreement adds to Index Data’s growing roster of North American academic library customers and reinforces the company’s position as a premier partner for libraries seeking expert, personalized support for open source library technology.
