Index Data  >  YAZ Proxy  >  YAZ Proxy presentation at IFLA 2005

Mike Taylor

We presented YAZ Proxy to a very positive reception at the IFLA 2005 conference (International Federation of Library Associations), also known as WLIC 2005 (World Library and Information Congress), held in Oslo, Norway, from 14th-18th August 2005.

For this, we wrote a paper describing how YAZ proxy is used at the Library of Congress to deliver MARCXML records using SRU, obtaining the information from their existing Z39.50 server. That paper is now freely available for download, either as a PDF (the definitive form) or an MS-Word document. Thanks to Annick Bernard, this paper is also available in a French translation (as an MS-Word document).

While the paper itself has attracted attracted a certain amount of attention, the presentation based on it has been extremely popular - probably because it contains more jokes than the paper. It, too, can be downloaded (as a PowerPoint presentation), and there is a Portuguese translation in the works.

This presentation makes a good introduction to YAZ Proxy, especially for those without a lot of technical background.
