We are a consulting and software-development enterprise headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark with offices in the UK and the US. Index Data LLC, our US subsidiary, is headquartered in West Hartford, Connecticut, with additional offices in Keene, New Hampshire and Winchester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1994, we specialize in solutions for distributed information management and discovery.

Index Data specializes in networked information retrieval services using open standards and open source software. The company offers a broad range of digital library services, including content management, metasearching, link resolution and harvesting, as well as gateways, database servers, indexing engines and numerous other customized IR solutions for libraries, museums, archives and their vendors.

Index Data's newest product, MasterKey™, is a next-generation hosted metasearch service. It is fast and easy to use, and is being offered free to all libraries for searching over 18 million open content resources. It is also offered as a fee-based service for libraries that wish to add commercial databases and library catalogs to the search engine. Connections to thousands of commercial resources are provided.

In addition to offering a hosted metasearch service, Index Data has also released, pazpar2, the new metasearch engine on which the service is based, under the General Public License. It is freely downloadable from the Index Data website.
